Sarah is 6 weeks old

I am finally back online after my hard drive crashed. I was thankful to have a husband that is so computer savvy and able to recover my music, documents, most of my e-mails and most importantly, my pictures. I have felt very out of touch without being able to check my e-mails and view my pictures when I wanted to.
I can't believe that Sarah is already 6 weeks old. These past 6 weeks have been a blur, but we are enjoying being the parents of a precious little girl and boy.

Getting ready to go to sleep

We have been home a few days from the hospital with our little Sarah. She is adorable and we are enjoying her very much. I didn't think I could possibly find it in my heart to love another child as much as I love Benjamin, but it is amazing to me how fast I have fallen in love with this little girl. Speaking of Benjamin, he is adjusting very well to Sarah. He wants her with or near him all the time. When she is asleep in another room, he wants to go check on her and give her kisses. He also tells her to get up and come in the room where he is. It is very sweet.

Making Cupcakes

Benjamin loves to watch Jon and Kate Plus 8, so Geoff and I have set up our DVR to record the new episodes. A couple days ago, he asked me to watch "Johnny Kate." We watched the episode in which the sextuplets were celebrating their 4th birthday. They celebrated by going to a hands-on bakery to decorate cupcakes. I think we have now watched that episode 4 times in the last 2 days. Benjamin gets so excited about the little kids decorating cupcakes and wants to do what they are doing. I thought this was a great opportunity for a bribe. We were going to have our picture taken for one last family shot before Sarah gets here and I knew it would be pulling teeth to get Benjamin to cooperate. I told him that if he was a good boy and let us take a family picture, then we would make cupcakes. Well, I am not sure if the photo shoot was a complete success, but he had the best time making and decorating cupcakes.

Night Night Time

Most of the time, I think parents feel that the best time of the night is when their kids go to bed. Truthfully, I think Geoff and I miss Benjamin when he goes to sleep. Of course, this might change when Sarah gets here because we will be so worn out, but for now we miss him when he goes off to dreamland.

The process of putting him to bed, though, is one of our favorite times. Benjamin really enjoys books, so we read 3-4 books to him, sing a little, snuggle a little, pray with him and hug and kiss him goodnight. Geoff usually spends 30-45 minutes doing the nighttime routine (several minutes longer than I do), so Benjamin always wants Daddy to put him to bed. My part of putting him to bed is usually bringing him water and giving him hugs and kisses after Daddy is done. When I walk in his room, he throws his arms and legs in the air with a big smile on his face and says, "got mama, got mama." He wraps his arms and legs around me and hugs and kisses me. In turn, I kiss and hug him back and he just giggles and continues to say, "got mama, got mama." It is such a precious time for us.

Dixon's Water Birthday Party

We had a big morning at a birthday party for Dixon, one of Benjamin's friends. It was a water party that Benjamin enjoyed after he warmed up to everyone. He is definitely a shy little boy. They had a couple of baby pools, a slip 'n slide and a sprinkler ball. Benjamin slid down the slip 'n slide once on his belly and ran down it several times after that. He had much more fun playing with a plastic choo-choo in the splash pool at the end of the slide.
The best part of a birthday party for Benjamin is always the opportunity to "eat cake." He enjoyed Dixon's fish-shaped cake and continues to talk about "eat cake, eat cake." He also hasn't figured out that he isn't supposed to tell the recipient about the presents he got them. As soon as we got there, he told Dixon that he got him "Thomas, Ahn and Peh," which is Benjamin-speak for Thomas and his coaches, Annie and Clarabel. While it's doubtful that Dixon was able to decipher what Benjamin was talking about, we thought it was hilarious.
